RED v BLUE versus red v blue

Please someone make the point that the uncontested blue states (California, 38% and NY,45%) had much low voter turnout compared to the uncontested red states where the folks stood in line for 4 hours on a done deal (can you say "lemming"?). See, that's because it's not a popular vote contest, duh! ALSO, THAT FINAL VOTE TALLY IN OHIO IS SHRINKING LIKE A VIOLET IN WINTER. Oh, not enough (14,000?), but someone has to point out the real story because the media is again going for the easy story - lazy journalists are spouting away about the superior values of the jack-booted war-mongers! Hey guys, habitual intolerance is not a virtue, sniveling fear is not a virtue, setting traps for wild animals and shooting them point blank is not a virtue. A gun doesn't make you a man. All of you know when the exact moment was that you chose to be heterosexual, right? Why are Reds so weak that they need laws upon laws upon laws to define virtuous behavior? Well, by golly, just read "Lord of the Flies." Oh, I forgot, Reds don't read literature, just sound-bite tripe a la O'Reilly and Coulter.

Without laws controlling their behavior, do Reds run amok, kill and plunder? I've always wondered what they are up to when no one is looking. Do they just have to have all the goodies? I wonder what 100,000 dead Iraqis would say, because more women and children there are dying daily now than they did under the 10 years prior to invasion.

I love the way Reds rationalize away the dead and maimed people of a country that never attacked us. War of Aggression versus War of Self-Defense is the moral difference between first-degree murder and self-defense. If my neighbor has a gun and I think someday he may shoot me with it, should I just shoot him first? If my values were Red, then, yes, I guess that would be okey-dokey.

Those horrible Blue liberals in Mass. have a 30% divorce rate compared to 50%+ divorce (and adultery) rate for the Red states like N.C and S.C. Now, does that mean that the Reds don't have a right to live according to their own personal beliefs? Maybe the Blues should make divorce illegal, punishable by 5 years in prison? Of course not. I would wager, without a doubt, that, if unchecked, the Reds would tear down mosques and synagogues long before the Blues would blow up a church - BTW, who blows up those African-American churches? Not the Blues, that's for sure.
I urge the media to do some real stories. Remember that whole "Redskins" football thing prior to the election? That was an original Keith Olbermann cute story, I think, but within one news cycle all the others hopped on - like I said, can you say "lemming"?

Now that I have done an Extreme Rant to counter the extreme rant on the other side which has trouble with the concept of nuance, I'd like to say a word about red people with a little "r" and little "b" blues. Often referred to as adults. I believe I work in a truly Christian environment, 50/50 red and blue - there are no George Bush gloaters or John Kerry losers. We care about family, business ethics and common goals.

Our fundamentalist bookkeeper is going to see her son marry a woman with Lesbian (20 years) parents, and she's fine with it. Our ranting Blue director of operations would die before she had an abortion. Another habitual red (boss)who did vote for Kerry, his only blue vote, has had numerous affairs, two wives, is a bit of a clepto, is the musical director and tirless volunteer at his church, and is always trying to be a better person, husband and father. The other boss is on his way to becoming a priest in the orthodox church and I've never seen him so torn over a vote.
We all hate this war and the out-of control deficit, and we all have our eye on George Bush's truth bending.

If Bush screws up, he will fall faster than a dead tree on a Kansas prairie during a tornado.

dude, this post nailed things perfectly. In particular, i hadn't considered

the lower turnout in the two big Dems states. Great point.

Speaking of red state hypocrisies, you should google "red states tax levels" and you'll find a great study where regression shows that 90%, yes 90% of red states have net GAINS from federal income taxes. That's right, we the liberals are paying these idiocons with taxes, while they claim to be anti-government.
